VÖRN Studio is an internationally recognised architecture practice designing structures that define cities, honour landscapes, and outlast generations. From civic landmarks to private residences — we build with intention.
Twenty-four years. Five continents. One hundred and forty-seven structures. Each one a response to its place, its people, its purpose.
Our practice spans the full spectrum of the built environment — from the intimate to the monumental.
Complete architectural services from conceptual design through construction administration. Buildings that negotiate between human scale and urban ambition.
Strategic planning and design at the city scale. We shape the spaces between buildings — the streets, plazas, and connective tissue of urban life.
Net-zero, LEED Platinum, and Passivhaus certified designs. Sustainability is not a feature we add — it is the framework through which every decision is made.
Five phases. Absolute clarity at every stage. No project leaves the studio without passing through each gate with rigour.
Deep listening. Site analysis. Cultural context. We spend weeks understanding before we place a single line on paper.
The architectural idea emerges. Sketches, models, spatial narratives. We present three radically different directions.
Chosen concept refined into a complete design — detailed drawings, material selection, structural and services coordination.
Construction documentation, specifications, regulatory submissions. Every bolt, joint, and threshold resolved on paper first.
On-site administration, contractor liaison, quality oversight. We stay until the last coat of plaster is perfect.
Photographs, renderings, and construction documentation from across our portfolio.
VÖRN Studio was founded in 2001 by Marcus Vörn and Aiko Teshima in a Brooklyn loft with two drafting tables, a shared conviction, and seventeen unbuilt projects between them. Twenty-four years later, our work spans five continents — from a 47-storey tower in Dubai to a single-room meditation chapel in rural Hokkaido.
What connects every project is a refusal to accept the ordinary. We ask uncomfortable questions. We resist the first good idea in favour of the right one. We believe buildings should earn their place in the landscape — not by shouting, but by belonging.
Our 34-person studio operates from New York, Rotterdam, and Tokyo. We are architects, urban designers, model-makers, material scientists, and obsessive walkers of every site we touch.
"VÖRN delivered a building we couldn't have imagined asking for. The Solera Centre has become Valencia's most visited public space. It exceeded every brief metric — and then exceeded our expectations of what architecture could mean to a city."
"What sets VÖRN apart is their absolute refusal to take shortcuts — conceptually or materially. The Helix Tower came in on budget, ahead of schedule, and won four awards before occupancy. I would trust them with any project in the world."
"The Ōkawa Residence is not a house. It is a meditation. Marcus and Aiko understood something about our family and the land that we had never articulated. They gave it form. We have lived there for two years and discover something new every week."
